The Sun is Out

Once the sun came out today, Athena couldn't get enough of it. She and my hounds went out multiple times to wander around in the yard and the little snow that was left. Back during the snow, she saw a ground squirrel on the other side of the fence, so every time she goes out, she runs to that spot to check it out.

Athena is good for my hounds, Shadow and Kelly, as she likes to run and play, but doesn't get overly excited. In this picture, she's standing on one of the benches that is around the edge of our deck so she can get a better view of the yard

Then she comes inside and starts throwing toys around. What a sweetheart. She heads back to the bedroom about 7:30 and tucks herself in and doesn't quite get it when everyone gets sent outside at 9, but she does her business and comes right back in and sleeps through the night.

Welcome Athena

Since Athena joined our pack earlier this week, she's done wonderfully. She's a very sweet, mild- mannered girl. She's getting along great with Shadow and Kelly and is a bit afraid of the cats. She sleeps peacefully through the night and her appetite has been improving daily.

Like any greyhound, she loves her treats and this afternoon we discovered that she can catch them if you toss them to her. She has a lovely lush coat with a pretty little wave between her shoulder blades. Put a coat on her this morning and she went willingly out in the snow, particularly along the fence where the birds and squirrels hang out. She had a "conversation" with a mixed breed black dog that lives two yards over and tried to get Kelly to play with her by bouncing back and forth in a playbow, but Kelly's reserving judgment.

She had a much needed dental on Friday and it hasn't slowed her down a bit. By supper time, she was chewing on a rawhide.
